Wordlessish Wednesday| Leaving for NYC

I promise, I promise. BlogHer12 is almost here (and almost over) so we will go back to normal, adorable Paige blogging.

This is my packing list (and things to be printed/done before leaving) and also my husband's Honey Do list, which is more of a grocery list with a few reminders of things to do ;)

If you're heading to BlogHer12, "meet" me here!

Wordlessish Wednesday| From This Moment On

Myohmy how 11 years have passed.

From high school to a proposal

Through a 6 year, 2 month, and 1 day engagement

And a surprise, early wedding gift.

Through thick and thin, you've been there through it all. And I couldn't have survived one moment without you.

From our first dance, to our last. I love you, from this moment on.

Happy (11th) Anniversary, Marc!

Reconnecting

After (almost) 11 years together, it's easy to let your relationship just bounce around with no effort at all. It's not failing, it's not thriving. It's there.

In an attempt to make sure our relationship isn't just "there", I've been working on making it thrive! I disconnect from the internet/blogging world at least once a week - usually on the nights that Paige is at the in-laws. It's honestly kinda hard to leave my phone in our room and not touch it but it's amazing. To sit there and talk with my husband, the guy I've spent so much time with. Who knows me better than myself and is my closest, best friend.

The nights that we don't have Paige are nothing special. 98% of the time, it's a work night which requires an early bedtime for our 6 AM/7 AM start times. But for us, these nights don't have to be special. It could be something as simple as grilling some burgers, sitting outside talking. It could, rarely, involve dinner out. Walking the mall. Eventually it will grow into working out/neighborhood jogs. I treasure this time we have together.

We're so very lucky to have that one night a week where we can disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other. My relationship needs it.

Happy Father's Day

Marc and I have been together for 11 years next month and even before Paige was a thought in our minds, I knew he'd be a good father.

He's patient with her, he can watch her for hours doing the simplest things, he explains how everything works, he encourages her. He's everything you'd want a father to be.

Cherished from the moment she arrived...actually sooner.

Having a mini-me moment :)

And a Mini-Marc moment

Goofballs stick together :)

Standing in the ocean in April because that's what she wanted to do.

Peanut, you're a very lucky girl to have this man as your Dada. Happy Father's Day, Marc.

Nerves.

Tomorrow, hubby has the day off and is heading to an assessment test for the state within the Department of Corrections. He's applying to work as a Corrections Officer Trainee (within the prison). He's gone to school for Criminal Justice so this is just one branch for him to explore.

I'm nervous for him. There was no material to study as it's more of a personality test to weed out the guys who just want the power. There are so many more steps after this, once he gets through. The first step is the toughest and the one causing these nerves to appear.

If you have any luck to spare, send it hubby's way, please! I'm sure he'll appreciate it!!

Mother's Day

As you're most likely aware (thanks Hallmark), Mother's Day is next Sunday. I'm on the fence about this "holiday".

Yes, I'm a mom (and a relatively new one, at that). 2 years ago, even though I was less then 3 weeks away from giving birth, I refused to accept/acknowledge Mother's Day for myself. In my mind, I wasn't a mom....yet. Last year? I was more into the holiday, but still not 100% on board for it.

I am not my husband's mother so the belief that he should buy me something (from him), is weird. I appreciate him buying me a gift "from" Paige, and I've done that for Marc the past 2 years and will continue to do so, but the idea of flowers, cards, and big/expensive gifts? No thank you.

I feel the same way about anniversaries. My in-laws have bought us a card and gift for our wedding anniversaries and they expect the same from their kids. My husband doesn't like this idea because his thought is that it's not his day, it's theirs. I feel the same way. It's weird for me to accept an anniversary gift from someone other than my husband. And, by the same token, it's weird for me to accept a Mother's Day gift from someone other than my child.

Am I alone in these feelings or do you expect your husband to get you a gift because you gave birth to his child(ren)?

Y3W| Happy Birthday, Fenway!

As a New England sports fan, Fenway Park holds a special place in history and fans' hearts. It's where our beloved Red Sox have broken our hearts, tested our spirits, and celebrated their accomplishments. Today is Fenway's 100th "Birthday" and it's killing me that we couldn't get to their Open House yesterday to walk the grounds (nor can we afford tickets to today's game).

Fenway is where I was the night before I found out I was pregnant with Paige and we were right across the highway from it on our mini-moon.

Quite the view, huh?

While in Boston on our mini-moon, we spent two amazing games there :)

YAY Newlyweds!!
(Our shirts actually said NEWLYWED on the back!)

Love Wally and the Boston cop on his cell :)

I was very lucky that in the September after Paige was born, to bring Paige to Fenway in a non-game environment!

Paige with Wally in the outfield

Yes, we got to go IN the Red Sox clubhouse...it was amazing.
And Paige's shirt says "Little Monstah". I figured it was appropriate given where we were

Paige looking annoyed next to fake Wally.

I am so glad that plans for other ball parks in Boston have failed. There's something to be said about walking into Fenway Park and watching a game where some of the greatest players have played. I am looking forward to bringing Paige to her first game :)

Happy Birthday, Fenway! Here's to another 100 years and many more memories to enjoy!!

REVIEW: Make A Ball

I was recently offered the chance to review Make A Ball. It's a fun company that allows you to personalize a sports ball :) With Marc's birthday being in the beginning of April, I figured it'd be a fun, personalized gift from Paige. I chose a baseball because of Marc's obsession love with the Red Sox. Seriously, this is the guy who wants to name our future/potential son after (now-retired) Red Sox catcher, Jason Varitek. I wish I was kidding.

Now, what better gift to get Dada then something with his favorite little girl's picture?

The process was super easy. Go to their website, Make A Ball. Click on "Start Now" and begin by selecting your ball choice. It walks you through step-by-step on how to design the ball - you have a choice of simply uploading a picture and text or going through and designing every aspect by yourself.

Here is what my hubby got to open on his birthday!

The balls take approximately a month to complete but I actually received mine within 3/3.5 weeks of ordering...AWESOME! They were even able to keep me up-to-date and tweet a picture of my ball before they shipped it out. Such a personal touch! :) I'm sure we'll be ordering a hockey puck for a certain grandfather's birthday...

The quality is great. The picture is sharp and clear (regardless of what my camera thinks). Ours is currently on our "wedding" shelf, next to the baseball we got at Fenway during our mini-moon.

If you're interested in giving yourself or a loved one an awesome, unique gift for an upcoming celebration, Make A Ball is offering my reader 20% off their order! Just enter this code: mab.20.ref when ordering.

Check these guys out online at their website and Twitter.

28.

Happy Birthday, Hubbs! You're 28 years old today.

Kinda scary that we've been together *almost* half of our lives ;)

You're an amazing husband, father. And I am so incredibly happy to have you in my life.

Happy Birthday, Hubby. Here's to many, many more.

Toddle Along Tuesday| Paige and her Dada

Marc is an incredible dad. He does so many things with her that are "their" things, it makes my heart melt. They dance, they run around sliding on the wood floor. She pointed to her eye, her heart then Marc and said "I love you" to him first. He's lost 70+ pounds all because of her.

My Husband

I've talked about him before.

Meet Marc - the greatest guy in the world, most of the time.

He's an amazing husband, who teared up during our wedding

Who cried when our daughter came into this world

(the pictures of us holding Paige as a newborn are all on my old computer and we haven't transferred them over yet....)

And who, as of last Friday, weighed 198 lbs. A number he hasn't seen in a decade.

I can't even begin to express how so very proud I am. He put himself to work - an exercise routine, a change in his eating habits (spinach, Greek yogurt, and low-fat meats). He does still do the occasional treat of fast food or pizza, but he's healthier for himself. For me. For Paige. And I look forward to having him around for a few more decades :)
