Jumping on the Bandwagon

So I've seen HUNDREDS of posts about Fifty Shades of Grey. (And if you haven't heard about it, I'll wait til you go back under your rock before I continue.) I feel the need to give my input.

First - if you haven't heard about the Fifty Shades trilogy, here's the breakdown:

E. L. James essentially took the Twilight books and ran it through the ringer:
*No Forks, WA but we're dealing with Seattle, WA now.
*Edward Cullen = Christian Grey. Isabella "Bella" Swan = Anastasia "Ana" Steele.
*Take out the sparkles, vampires, and wolves shape shifters and replace them with a gazillionaire, recent college grad, and some BDSM.

Christian and Ana meet, by chance, when Ana interviews Christian for her sick roommate (who is the editor of the college paper). Christian becomes infatuated with Ana and essentially pulls her into his BDSM world -   all while telling her that he's no good, she should stay away, etc. (sound familiar yet?) Ana finds herself quickly falling intensely in love with him. Something happens, she leaves, he tracks her down and obstacle after obstacle after obstacle after obstacle, they find themselves married, with kids, and their happily ever after.

So, what's the hype about this book?

It's the BDSM. It's not just eluded to, it's downright graphic. It's Mom Porn. It's like E.L. James is trying to bring sexuality to the forefront of moms' minds everywhere. She's admitted, in interviews, to trying out everything in the book on her husband.

If you're looking for well-written, quality writing...keep moving. This book has it's errors and some of the terms she uses can be kinda confusing (the author is British). However, if you're looking for an intense book that pulls you in because it's opening you up to new thoughts/experiences, this book could be for you ;)

Have you read Fifty Shades? Let me know your thoughts! I'm in need of some new books for my Kindle so if you also have recommendations for that, let me know!
