I actually never 'potty trained' my two girls. There was no special day for getting rid of the diaper. No pressure.
When my first daughter was two an a half, I let her without diaper and she peed on the floor. I actually wanted her to do that so I could explain to her that THAT was pee and she is supposed to do it in the potty. I did not reminded her of it like 1000 times an hour though. She learned to tell me when she had to go and in a couple of weeks we got rid of the diapers forever.
My second daughter is 2 years and 8 months old and she is making no. 2 at the toilet (on the special baby seat) since she was 1 and a half. About 3 weeks ago I put her on the toilet seat when I knew she had to pee and she peed. I told her that that was pee and she is supposed to do it in the toilet too, not in the diaper. Since then (3 weeks) I was careful to put her on the toilet seat regularly because she never says when she hads to go, but she also holds herself. So, about 2 weeks ago we got rid of the diaper during the day.
I personally don't think it's a good idea to set a day or a week for this. Every child is different. Good luck!
